We are created in the image and likeness of God, meaning we have an intellect and a will. The intellect seeks the truth - and Jesus is "the way, the truth & the life." The will seeks the good - and Jesus says "no one is good except God alone." It is therefore a universally true statement when Simon says to the Lord, "Everyone is looking for you." ... Unclean spirits in the Gospel make a lot of noise. Jesus orders them to be quiet or go away & then all is well. When we go to pray, silence can be a challenge. Our minds race, thoughts wander, etc. In such moments, we can ask the Lord to quiet our hearts and to grant us peace. ... See MoreSee Less

"Anno Domini 2019" means "In the year of the Lord 2019." It reminds us that nothing has been "ordinary" since the Incarnation, when the word became flesh & sanctified Creation. "Ordo" in Latin means order: perhaps "Ordered Time" would be the better name for the liturgical season. ... See MoreSee Less

"He must increase, but I must decrease: that is, He must give, but I must receive; He must be glorified, but I must confess. Let man know his own condition, and confess to God; and hear the apostle as he says to a proud, elated man, bent on extolling himself: 'What have you that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you glory as if you did not receive it?' Then let man understand that he has received; and when he would call that his own which is not his, let him decrease: for it is good for him that God be glorified in him. Let him decrease in himself, that he may be increased in God." - St. Augustine ... See MoreSee Less

Jesus is a divine person w/ a human will & a divine will. Today's Gospel says "He ordered him not to tell anyone, but...the report about him spread all the more." In His human will, it seems He preferred the anonymity of Nazareth, but the Father's will was that His name be known. ... See MoreSee Less

"O mighty is the power of God
The power that all things did create
That calmed the waters of the sea
When Christ upon its surface walked
So that in treading on the waves
He moved dry-shod across the deep
Nor ever did He wet his soles
As light He dimmed the surging flood."

"When our Lord took a little bread, He multiplied it in the twinkling of an eye. That which [people] effect and transform in ten months with toil, His ten fingers effected in an instant. The murmur of His lips sprinkled over it like rain, and the breath of His mouth was there in place of the sun." St. Bede the Venerable ... See MoreSee Less

"The magi were the ones who gave gifts to the Lord. The first is said to have been Melchior, an old man with white hair and a long beard...who offered gold to the Lord as to a king. The third, black-skinned and heavily bearded, named Balthasar...by his gift of myrrh testified to the Son of Man who was to die." - St. Bede the Venerable ... See MoreSee Less

Hello NYU Photographers!

We are extremely excited to announce that we will be going on our first excursion of the Fall 2016 semester! Come join us as we walk the Highline, located in Chelsea. The theme for this event is "Lines" (pun intended), and we will focus on taking cool shots that involve lines and geometry. We sincerely hope you can make it out!

As always, you do not need a DSLR (those "big fancy cameras") or any photography experience to participate on this excursion. Just come along with any camera you have, phones included, and have fun snapping photos!
