"In God's plan, the Cross constitutes the true instrument of salvation for the whole of humanity and the way clearly offered by the Lord to those who wish to follow him. [Padre Pio] understood this well, when on the Feast of the Assumption in 1914, he wrote: 'In order to succeed in reaching our ultimate end we must follow the divine Head, who does not wish to lead the chosen soul on any way other than the one he followed; by that, I say, of abnegation and the Cross.'" - JPII, homily on the canonization of St. Pio ... "Love is demanding. It makes demands in all human situations; it is even more demanding in the case of those who are open to the Gospel...We thus come to the very heart of the Gospel truth about freedom. Freedom cannot be understood as a license to do absolutely anything: it means a gift of self." - St. JPII, Letter to Families 1994 ... See MoreSee Less

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, inspired by Biblical scholar Clarence Jordan and the letter of St. James. Fuller understood the meaning of faith and works, "Simply stated, the 'theology of the hammer' is the understanding that our Christian faith mandates that we do more than just talk about faith and sing about love. We must put faith and love into action to make them real, to make them come alive for people. Faith must be incarnated; that is to say, it must become more than a verbal proclamation or an intellectual assent. True faith must be acted out." ... See MoreSee Less

“God, who needs nothing, loves into existence wholly superfluous creatures in order that He may love and perfect them. He creates the universe, already foreseeing - or should we say "seeing"? there are no tenses in God - the buzzing cloud of flies about the cross, the flayed back pressed against the uneven stake, the nails driven through the mesial nerves, the repeated incipient suffocation as the body droops, the repeated torture of back and arms as it is time after time, for breath's sake, hitched up. If I may dare the biological image, God is a "host" who deliberately creates His own parasites; causes us to be that we may exploit and "take advantage of" Him. Herein is love. This is the diagram of Love Himself, the inventor of all loves.” C.S. Lewis ... See MoreSee Less

“The love of husband and wife is the force that welds society together. Men will take up arms and even sacrifice their lives for the sake of this love….when harmony prevails, the children are raised well, the household is kept in order, and neighbors, friends, and relatives praise the result. Great benefits, both of families and states, are thus produced. When it is otherwise, however, everything is thrown into confusion and turned upside-down.” St. John Chrysostom, d. 407 ... Hello NYU Photographers!

We are extremely excited to announce that we will be going on our first excursion of the Fall 2016 semester! Come join us as we walk the Highline, located in Chelsea. The theme for this event is "Lines" (pun intended), and we will focus on taking cool shots that involve lines and geometry. We sincerely hope you can make it out!

As always, you do not need a DSLR (those "big fancy cameras") or any photography experience to participate on this excursion. Just come along with any camera you have, phones included, and have fun snapping photos!
